The Mercure Francis Hotel is an elegant, 3-star Georgian property overlooking leafy Queen Square in the heart of Bath. Though not especially large, the lobby has a seating area and an adjacent reading lounge. The 95 guestrooms are appointed in a very traditional English style, with floral fabrics, as befits the hotel’s location. All are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. Light and airy, with ornate plasterwork on the ceiling, the Square Restaurant serves traditional British cuisine with an international flavour, while the Wood Bar (named after John Wood the Elder, who designed Queen Square) offers light meals and refreshments as well as an extensive range of drinks.
